Our Beliefs

Cokesbury Methodist Church is a Global Methodist Church.  Our core beliefs are:

The Trinity: The Global Methodist Church believes in one God, who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. This belief is foundational to their faith and worship.

Authority of Scripture: The church holds that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and serve as the ultimate authority for faith and practice. They believe that all people are sinners in need of God's grace, which is provided through Jesus Christ.

Salvation and Grace: The church teaches that salvation is available to all through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for humanity's sins and rose again. They emphasize the importance of grace and the transformative power of following Christ.

Discipleship: The Global Methodist Church is committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness across the globe. They encourage members to live out their faith actively and share the message of Christ with others.

Traditional Values: The church was formed as a result of a split from the United Methodist Church, primarily due to disagreements over issues such as same-sex marriage and the ordination of non-celibate gay clergy. The Global Methodist Church seeks to uphold traditional Christian teachings and ethical standards.
